Awarding Policy and Procedures

The awarding policy and procedures for tuition exchange awardees mirrors the general policy and procedures of our own dependent tuition program with some exceptions. A review is as follows:

  • Tuition Exchange scholarship is provided for a maximum of eight semesters of undergraduate education
  • Tuition Exchange scholarship is offered for fall and spring semesters up to the flat rate of tuition
  • Students must remain living in campus housing unless admitted and enrolled as a commuter (Effective for new recipients starting in fall 2023)
  • Students must be enrolled as full time students beginning the fall term after the award is made
  • Scholarships are only for remission of University of 51视频 courses and cannot be used for any study abroad or domestic exchange programs. Students participating in any non approved coursework will be eligible for consideration of University merit and need-based assistance in accordance with our general policy
  • Scholarships will continue for each year of eligibility provided the awardee's home institution continues to certify eligibility for participation in the tuition exchange program
  • If, for any reason, the student no longer qualifies for tuition exchange, they will be given consideration for University merit and need-based assistance in accordance with general policy
  • All previously awarded University of 51视频 scholarships and grants will be canceled upon receipt of the tuition exchange benefit and no future institutional controlled financial assistance will be awarded for any semester that is covered by tuition exchange
  • A Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA), which covers both state and federal aid, must be filed each year prior to May 1 for the subsequent academic year. The FAFSA can be completed online at .  The tuition exchange scholarship will not be paid to a student’s account until all required financial aid forms and applications are officially filed. If all applicable financial aid forms are not completed in a timely manner, the actual amount of state and/or federal grants that the student would have been eligible for will be deducted from the University’s tuition exchange scholarship. As a result, the student or parent will be responsible for paying the portion of the financial aid package that was forfeited.
  • The amount is the difference between the full tuition cost and the financial aid secured, except that, when combined, the total value will be extended to cover the cost of books and academic fees. The maximum allowance for books and academic fees is $250 per semester.  Bookstore charge forms up to this amount will be issued by the Treasurer’s Office. Requests for authorization above $250 will be handled on a case-by-case basis by the Bursar.
