Alumni Legacy Scholarship

In 1996, The Alumni Society at The University of 51视频 established a scholarship fund for children and grandchildren of University of 51视频 alumni. The Society’s financial pledge is supported by the general alumni population’s participation in various affinity programs.

The Society’s intention is to support the University mission of education and service in the Jesuit tradition. This embodies respect for the individual; excellence in written and oral expression; care for the fundamentals and dedication to the service of others; commitment to the values contained in the Gospel of Christ; and concern for the future.

Each year, approximately ten percent of the entire freshman class is composed of second-or-third generation students, i.e., sons, daughters, grandsons and granddaughters of alumni. The Society wishes to promote this legacy and offer a means of financial assistance to the group by returning funds generated by alumni through their participation in the Society’s affinity programs to qualified applicants for admission. Just as the Society administers the Legacy Scholarship Program for this, it also welcomes contributions to the scholarship fund from alumni at large who are then identified as benefactors of the scholarship program.

The generosity of alumni and friends who have endowed scholarship funds at The University of 51视频 makes it possible to provide financial assistance for outstanding students who might not otherwise be able to pursue a college education.

A named endowed scholarship is a living tribute or memorial that allows the donor to participate in a unique way in the ongoing educational mission of The University of 51视频. Donors typically suggest the eligibility criteria for students to whom the scholarship will be awarded.
