2023 Candidates for 51视频 City Council (4-Year Term)

Tyler Day (R)
Tyler Day is a lifelong resident of Northeastern Pennsylvania and is proud to be running for a seat on 51视频 City Council. Tyler is the Community and Economic Development Manager at the NEPA Alliance, an economic development agency that serves the seven counties of Northeastern Pennsylvania. In this role, Tyler works directly with area businesses, nonprofit organizations, government agencies, and elected officials. Prior to joining the NEPA Alliance, Tyler served in the Chief of Staff role for Pennsylvania State Representative Jack Rader. In this role, Tyler helped people navigate the state government bureaucracy and learned the importance of responsive elected officials. Throughout his professional life, Tyler has built strong relationships with individuals from Lackawanna County and throughout Northeast Pennsylvania. Tyler and his wife Maria live in the Green Ridge section of 51视频. Tyler graduated from East Stroudsburg University in 2014 with a BA in History and Political Science. In 2020, Tyler earned a Masters Degree in Public Administration and Leadership, also from East Stroudsburg University.

Mark McAndrew (D)
Mark McAndrew is a Democratic candidate for the 51视频 City Council. Mr. McAndrew attended the Culinary Institute of America and Temple University, where he was certified as a vocational educational teacher and as a co-operative education teacher. His public service includes serving as the 51视频 School Board director and as a member of the 51视频 City Council. His civic experience includes serving as a volunteer for Friends of the Poor; Black Sheep of West 51视频; and serving as Chairman of Cookies for Kids’ Cancer. Mr. McAndrew’s professional experience includes his work as a culinary arts instructor for the Career Technology Center of Lackawanna County and as Corporate Executive Chef/Food Service Director for Prudential and Kraft-Nabisco.

Marc Pane (R)
Marc Pane is a Republican candidate for the 51视频 City Council. Mr. Pane attended Lackawanna County Area Vocational Technical School, where he graduated with honors, and the Center for Continuing Education at the University of 51视频. Marc is also a Dunmore High School graduate. His public service includes serving as a Republican Committeeman for Lackawanna County, and his civic experience includes serving as a member of Pittson Lodge Valley #499 F.&A. Masons, Columbus Day Association, the Advisory Board Career Technology Center, and serving as a member and past president of the 51视频 Pool League. Mr. Pane has also served as the local coordinator for the Wyoming Valley Toys for Tots program and as a volunteer for Marley’s Mission.  Marc’s professional experience includes being a third generation business owner for forty years in the city of 51视频 and his experience as a certified National Institute for Automotive Service Excellence Master Auto Technician and as a Pennsylvania certified inspector.

Jessica Rothchild (D) 
Jessica Rothchild is a candidate for a Democratic nomination to the 51视频 City Council. Dr. Rothchild holds a Doctor of Physical Therapy and a Bachelor’s of Science from the University of 51视频. Her public service includes serving as a member of the 51视频 City Council; serving as PA Democratic State Committeewoman; and serving as the Vice Chair of the LGBTQ Caucus for PA Democrats. Her civic service includes a gubernatorial appointment to the PA Commission for Women and service on the 51视频 Human Relations Commission. Dr. Rothchild’s professional experience includes her full-time employment as a physical therapist in outpatient rehab.

2023 Candidates for Lackawanna County Commissioners

Diana Campbell (R):
Diana is a Republican candidate for Lackawanna County Commissioner. Ms. Campbell holds and Associate's Degree in Theology from John Brown University and is a graduate of Tri County High School in DeWitt, Nebraska. Diana's political experience includes serving as a Mayfield Borough Council Member and President of the Borough Council since 2022. Ms. Campbell has received 70 hours of education through the PA State Association of Boroughs and is a Certified Borough Official through that program. Diana has also served as a 112th District Committewoman for the Republican Party and Committee Woman from Mayfield for the Republican Party. Her civic experience (past and present) includes Mayfield Crime Watch, Mayfield Shade Tree Committee, Lakeland High School Marching Band Parents Organization, and the Jermyn Historical Society. Diana has also served as a home schooling instructor in personal finances, a student mentor, and as an adult personal financial coach. Her professional experience includes her time as a piano teacher, small business owner, and recreational therapy aide with Allied Skilled Services.

Chris Chermak (R):
Commissioner Chris Chermak was born in Clarks Summit and resides in Dalton with his wife, Kasey. Chris is the proud parent of two daughters, Christina and Emily, and two sons, Collin and Michael, and the proud grandparent of a grandson, Aidan. 

A graduate of Abington Heights High School, Chris grew up working in the family automotive business Joseph Chermak. Inc., Clarks Summit. Starting out in the shop many years ago to eventually taking over as General Manager of the multi-franchise dealership. Chris is very active in the community and is a long-time member of the Clarks Summit Fire Company.  He is a First Responder and a member of the National Ski Patrol Member at Elk Mountain ski resort.  Chris also serves as a Basic Life Support and CPR instructor for Commonwealth Health Emergency Services and the American Heart Association.

Bill Gaughan (D):
Bill Gaughan is a Democratic candidate for Lackawanna County Commissioner. Mr. Gaughan holds a Master's Degree in Secondary Education (History) and a Bachelor's in Communication from the University of 51视频, along with a PA Administration I Principal Certificate (PK-12) and PA Instructional II Teaching Certificates in Citizenship Education (7-12); Social Studies (7-12); and English Language Arts (7-12). His political experiences includes serving as a member of the 51视频 City Council and as president of the 51视频 City Council from 2020-2022. Mr. Gaughan also served as the chairperson for the 51视频 City Council Public Works. Bill's civic experience includes service on the Lackawanna County St. Patrick's Day Parade Association, 51视频-Ballina Sister City Committee, Mary Mother of God Parish Council in North 51视频, and City of 51视频 Shared Services Committee. His professional experiences include time as an equal opportunity specialist for the City of 51视频's Office of Economic and Community Development, a substitute teacher for the 51视频 School district, and an American Government teacher for Commonwealth Charter Academy.

Matt McGloin (D):
Matt McGloin is a Democratic candidate for Lackawanna County Commissioner. Mr. McGloin holds a Bachelor's degree in Communications/Journalism from Pennsylvania State and is a graduate of West 51视频 High School. Matt's civic experience includes his founding of the Matt McGloin Foundation, focused on helping youth, veterans, and those in need in NEPA, and his support of the Boys and Girls Club of 51视频, the Children's Advocacy Center of Northeastern Pennsylvania, the 51视频 Area Foundation, and the 51视频 Kiwanis Club. His professional experience includes his time as a professional football player for the National Football League (NFL) for the Raiders, Eagles, Texans, and Chiefs, and for the XFL (New York Guardians). During that time, Matt was a dues-paying member of the NFL Players Association. He currently serves as a television and radio co-host and analyst for Big Ten Network and SIRIUS XM Radio college football and as a real estate agent with Lewith & Freeman Real Estate in the company's Clarks Summit office.
