The Center for Teaching and Learning Excellence (CTLE)
The University of 51视频’s Center for Teaching and Learning Excellence (CTLE) encourages and supports a strong culture of teaching, learning and scholarship in the Ignatian Tradition for a diverse university community. In collaboration with the Library, The University’s CTLE works with faculty and students to help create an environment that encourages and supports student learning, faculty enrichment, instructional design, and the use of technology. The CTLE provides opportunities for faculty and students to work together to achieve academic success and have a positive learning experience.
The CTLE is located on the 5th floor of the Loyola Science Center (LSC). If you would like more information, please stop by the office, visit our or contact CTLE via telephone at 941-4038.
Reading Services
The CTLE has a reading specialist on staff because 80% of college work involves reading. In order to manage and understand reading assignments, students must use efficient reading techniques. These techniques include active cognitive skills. The reading specialist at the CTLE will meet with you on a one-to-one basis to explore active reading techniques appropriate for your course work. Visit the CTLE and make an appointment to have your reading ability assessed and develop a plan to help you gain appropriate strategies to enhance active reading skills and improve reading comprehension.
Writing Services
Research indicates that no matter what career you choose, writing will be a significant part of it. Therefore, to do well in college and in your chosen career you must write well. By providing a collaborative atmosphere that encourages students to think critically and independently, the CTLE enables University students from any level and discipline to become better writers.
The Writing Center is dedicated to assisting individuals who want to enhance their writing skills, including brainstorming, drafting, revising, and documenting sources. Students need to be aware that writing consultants will not draft, revise, correct, or proofread papers. Instead, they will help students learn to do these important tasks.
Consultants will work one-on-one with students to discuss students’ work and provide feedback at any stage of the writing process. Scheduling appointments early in the writing progress is encouraged.
To meet with a writing consultant, stop by during the Writing Center’s regular hours of operation, call (570) 941-6147 to schedule an appointment, or complete the online. You can also schedule an online appointment using .
